Keisha Farmer
2022 -2023
An alumna of Pratt Institute, Keisha Farmer has created a career in illustration, graphic design, fiber art, and art education. She has exhibited work in New York, Maryland, Texas, and has numerous pieces in private collections. She is currently working and residing in Fort Bend County, Texas.
“My current pieces combine the fluidity of watercolor with the rigidity of structured fiber. I like to think I am still creating as an illustrator, because my work is structured and detailed. The crochet also requires a level of control and mathematical order.”
“My subject matter has evolved from architectural forms to the human body to melanated women. The current work is now an investigation of the divine feminine. Just as in our current culture, the women in my paintings take on multiple roles of femininity, masculinity, fragility, and strength. It is a study of yin and yang, of the organic paired with structure. Our environment and our bodies are everchanging, allowing for an unlimited inspiration for my next body of work. My goal is for these figures to embody the shift of feminine energy that is occurring in our present state. It is my desire that my works will empower women to create conversations around their roles of power in our near future.”

Carrie Swim
2021 - 2022
Carrie Swim is a professional lyrical abstract painter and performance artist, born and raised in Houston, TX and graduate of Cinco Ranch High School, she holds her BFA from Baylor University, and MFA from the University of Kansas. Carrie spent the last seven years in New York City living, creating, teaching, and exhibiting her work as she grew with a culturally diverse artistic community. She volunteered with IAM movement founded by Mako Fujimora, whom she learned greatly from in her practice, as well as her artistic mentor and college, Emmanuelle Cacciatore. NYC also became her launching point for exploring and serving various nations through her artistic practice. Nations included Zambia, Mozambique, India, Israel, Italy, and France through various mission trips, self run workshops, and an artist residency in Tuscany. Within the US and abroad, she conducted inner healing art workshops, exploring the international heart language with paint and dance/movement that can help bring tangibility to our emotions and stories, and open a small doorway to healing. Dance and painting hold an equal partnership in her practice.
Today she lives and works in West Houston, back where her artistic journey began with deep joy. She celebrates a reunion with Ana Villaronga, joining the team of artists at the beautifully active and community enriching Art Museum TX. She continues her teaching, as she runs a fine arts program in the newly expanded Beautiful Feet Studios of Richmond, TX. She enjoys empowering young creatives with artistic tools and entrepreneurial vision to embrace the world with their hearts minds and gifts. With her own hands forever saturated in paint, she is ready to learn and share creative experiences with the local community of Houston, Texas.
