MOVIE POSTER MANIA: A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT EXHIBITION
This exhibition is part of Fotofest 2020. Due to the current pandemic, we have also made this an online exhibition.
Katy High School’s Advanced Commercial Photography in Katy, Texas is a class with six students. This project entailed the modeling, photographing and designing of each movie poster. It was a team project directed by instructor Diana Porter. They made their own costumes and did their own make-up. They learned and did their own lighting, typography and graphics. The time involved in creating each movie poster and the amazing results sparked our curator’s interest. Art Museum TX offered these students an exhibition. Enjoy the online exhibition! We are proud of these young people and look forward to their future endeavors!
Students: Mason Alvarez, Jesse Baut, Kayla Fallon, Tyler Lawton, Summer Mabry, Jael Valles
“These movie posters represent the heart and souls of six students who accepted a challenge and surpassed everyone’s expectations, creating true works of art with a commercial appeal which is so important for high school who wish to make photography a profitable and meaningful career. They learned how to work as a team and trust their instincts when it came to content and final design.”
- Diana Porter, Instructor
